Generative AI in Higher Education Teaching – Advanced Workshop
The use of generative AI in higher education presents educators with a variety of challenges. In addition to developing an understanding of the basic functionality of this new technology, practical everyday questions arise regarding the handling of these systems in teaching. After gaining an insight into the functionality and taking your first steps in AI usage in the introductory workshop, the advanced workshop will introduce you advanced methods for dealing with AI, for example in examinations.
In the spirit of Constructive Alignment, we will first reflect on the changed competency requirements for students, and based on this, determine the use of AI in teaching. From a decision matrix, we will derive specific teaching and learning activities as well as evaluation criteria. In accordance with the guidelines at your university, you can then make an informed decision about the use of generative AI.
This process raises both subject-specific and interdisciplinary questions. What contribution does the AI system make to your subject-specific work, and which aspects of scientific practice are affected by this? At the same time, the use of AI by students significantly impacts their learning process. What role does writing play in competency acquisition? What ethical questions shape learning? The workshop provides a reflection platform where you can exchange ideas with other participants and incorporate your experiences into teaching design.
Note:
This workshop will be offered in German on 17.09.2025 and in English on 05.11.2025. Apart from the language, there are no differences in the events. Please only register for one date.
• Reflection on the use of AI in teaching
